Who is SplatGen for?

It is designed for Blender users who want a friendlier way to create and present Gaussian splats for spaces, products, experiments, and visual storytelling.

Are the verification points used for training?

No. They are a fast, coarse coverage preview that helps you improve camera placement. SplatGen builds the actual training point cloud separately from the rendered dataset.

Why use depth maps instead of ray casting alone?

The rendered depth pass records where visible pixels sit in 3D. That means hair, particles, evaluated effects, and fine silhouettes visible to the renderer can contribute even when a geometry-only ray cast does not capture them reliably.
